DHL: A Brief Profile In 1969, Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblomand Robert Lynn (D, H, and L) founded DHLin San Francisco. DHL pioneered international air express delivery in 1971 with service to the Philippines. In 1973, DHL formed two operating companies:DHL Airways for the US operations and DHL International for the rest of the world. Over the years, DHL established itself in Europe, LatinAmerica, the Middle East and Africa... The Competitive Forces FedEx was founded by Fred Smith. It began its operations in the US on April 17th 1973. Gradually FedEx expanded internationally first to Canada in 1981 and then into Europe and Asia with the purchase of Gelco Express International, a courier service with offices in Europe and Asia, in 1984...
